407bhp, 640Nm, 8-speed auto, plus Inscription trim… and it’s quick. All, and more, for RM348,888
The T8 engine is now available for the Volvo S60 too, after Volvo Car Malaysia (VCM) opened the order book for this particular variant, complementing the current S90 T5 and S90 T6 R-Design.
The new Volvo S90 T8 Twin Engine Inscription is assembled locally, drawing parallel to the other model which uses the Twin Engine, the XC90. With an introductory price of RM348,888, the S90 T8 is a massive RM105,000 under the S90 T6, and RM40,000 cheaper than the T5.
Not a bad deal considering that the S90 T8 is the most powerful of the lot by miles with its 407bhp and 640Nm of torque. Let’s not forget that it also adds the Inscription trim – Volvo’s most luxurious – to the sedan.
Power from the petrol engine goes to the front wheels, while the rear wheels are independently driven by an electrical motor. With the extra grip from this set-up, the century sprint is timed at 4.8 seconds.
Just like the XC90 T8 Twin Engine, the Shah Alam-assembled S90 T8 will be also be exported to select countries in the region.
